【Artist Interview】Ms. Trudy Trinh
Today we present an interview with Trudy Trinh, a Microblading expert in Canada.

本日は、カナダでマイクロブレーディングのエキスパートとして活躍しているTrudy Trinhさんのインタビュー記事をお送りします。偶然の出来事から始まったキャリアの話や、若手アーティストのみなさんへのメッセージなどをお聞きしたいと思います。

A career that began by chance
偶然の出来事から始まったキャリア
Next in PMU（以下、NP）：What made you interested in Permanent Makeup and how did you begin your career in this industry?
アートメイクに興味を持った理由やアートメイクでのキャリアを始めたきっかけは何ですか？
Trudy：It is a beautiful accident actually.
I was about 21 years old when my mom took a course in Aesthetics and Permanent Makeup was part of the curriculum. She came home one day with the Permanent Makeup pen machine and asked me to do her brows.
As my mom, she knew how much I loved to draw so she trusted me to work on her brows. And being young, and not knowing what I know now, I happily obliged.
When she graduated her beauty course, she focused on facials and skin care and would have me do Permanent Makeup brows on her clients who asked for it.
Of course, I eventually got certification in 1998 and was doing PMU part time while finishing University.
始めたきっかけは美しい偶然でした。
私が21歳の時、母がエステコースを受講しており、アートメイクはカリキュラムの一部でした。ある日、母がアートメイクのペンマシンを持って帰宅し、私に眉毛の手入れをして欲しいと言ってきました。
母は、私がどれだけ絵を描くのが好きかを知っていたので、私の施術を信頼してくれました。 私は喜んで引き受けました。その後、母はコースを卒業し、フェイシャルとスキンケアにフォーカスしました。
私は母に頼まれて、クリニックでアートメイクを希望するクライアントのために眉の施術をしました。
もちろん、最終的には 1998 年に資格を取得し、大学を卒業しPMUのアルバイトをしていました。

NP：What does Permanent Makeup mean to you?

Trudy：PMU is my passion, I fulfill myself as an artist, creator, and I help people.
アートメイクは情熱であり、人を助けるアーティスト、そしてクリエイターとして自分自身を満たすことができるものです。

NP：What is your main focus of treatment?
普段の施術で力を入れていることは何ですか？
Trudy：Brows are my expertise. My clients are of all nationalities and ages.

Discovering the potentials of PMU in Automated Systemsオートメーションに負けない、PMUのポテンシャル
NP：What are your future prospects for your career as a PMU artist?
PMUアーティストとしての今後の展望を教えてください。
Trudy：I believe that PMU has amazing potential. We have seen how technology is already available for lashes and nails on an automated system whereby machines can actually perform these services. I believe PMU will not succumb to these machines because every service for brows (especially) is unique to each face and to each client’s preference. The beauty industry is one that will always be prioritized and many people know how brows are the mainstay of the beauty standard.
PMUは素晴らしいポテンシャルがあると信じています。実際に私たちはサービスが自動化されたシステムで、まつ毛やネイルなどの美容技術が進化してきたのを見てきました。 私は、PMU がこれらのマシンに屈することはないと思っています。なぜなら、（特に）眉のすべてのサービス は、それぞれの顔とクライアントごとの好みによるものだからです。美容業界は常に優先される業界であり、多くの人が眉が美容基準の主力であることを知っています。
NP：Technology is evolving day by day and many things are becoming automated, but as you say, PMU is still something that only people can understand, such as individual faces and preferences.
技術は日々進化し、多くの物事が自動化していますが、おっしゃるようにアートメイクは個人の顔や好みなど、まだまだ人にしか理解できないことが多いと思います。
Building confidence and practice!
自信と練習を積み重ねよう！
NP：Can you give a message to young artists to further develop their role within the PMU industry?
今後のアートメイク業界のさらなる発展のためにも、ぜひ若いアーティストさんへメッセージを一言いただけますか？
Trudy：Confidence and also practice. If you look at all artist’s first models that you admire now, you will see how much they have progressed. Talent can take you places but practice can also do that. Doubt is wasted energy. Take it one day at a time and practice to create muscle memory.
自信と練習です。今憧れるアーティストの最初のモデルを見れば、どれほど成長したかわかるでしょう。才能は憧れる場所に連れていくことができますが、練習も夢や目標に到達する手段です。疑いはエネルギーの浪費です。筋肉に記憶させるために、1日1つずつ練習してください。
Message to Japanese PMU Artists
日本人アーティストへメッセージ
NP：As a final note, please leave a message for PMU artists in Japan!
最後に、日本人アーティストへもメッセージをお願いします。
Trudy：Basically the same as the above for beginner artists. I have never been to Japan but admire the culture and the country. I know that every Japanese artist has the resources and discipline to become tremendous at what they wish to be in PMU.
基本的に初心者の場合は若手アーティストへのアドバイスと同じです。日本には行ったことはありませんが、文化と国に非常に感心しています。日本のアーティストは皆、PMUで自分がなりたいと思うものに対して、とてつもない力を発揮するためのリソースと規律を持っていることを私は知っています。
